i have known Mike for over 40 years, he was a kind and gentle man and nothing was too much trouble for him ever. 

When i was younger he took me horse riding and when i eventually got my own would often help out when i was on shifts.

When my daughter,Holly,  was born it was an instant and unconditional love he gave her.  He never had to raise his voice to her just lowered the paper and said” thats enough”. He could be found most  nights reading “Animal Antics” ie Pony in the Porch, there were over 52 books in the series!! Mike loved organising her parties, he took her swimming and when she got older would pick her up from work or a night club at some unearthly hour with no complaints.  They went diving and white water rafting when we were on holiday and we have some lovely photos.  He was proud of the woman she has become. His wish was to see her married to Andy but unfortunatly this did not happen.

My abiding memory is of him and mum holding hands and laughing at some private joke.
